Manhunt launched for suspects in murder of 24-year-old man found in river

MALAMULELE – Police in Malamulele have launched a manhunt for suspects following the murder of a 24-year-old man whose body was found floating in a stream at Hasani Dakari village.

The victim was discovered on Saturday, 03 January 2026. According to police, the deceased was last seen on Thursday, 01 January 2026, where he was allegedly assaulted by a group of people at a local liquor store in Hasani Dakari village.

It is further alleged that he was later picked up by a bakkie and never returned home.

The deceased has been positively identified by his next of kin as Xiyani Watters Maluleke, a resident of Hasani Mbhalati village.

Police are appealing to members of the community to assist with information that may lead to the arrest of those responsible.
