BURGERSFORT: A pensioner was allegedly assaulted by a mentally challenged man at the casualty section of Dilokong Hospital in Burgersfort on Sunday.
It is alleged that the pensioner was awaiting to get assistance from the doctor when a mentally challenged man, who was tied with ropes was brought in the casualty.
A few moments later, the man started chasing the security personnel who were in the casualty ward and managed to get to the pensioner who was sitting in a wheelchair.
The pensioner was assaulted on the head with fists.
The granddaughter of the pensioner, Tebogo Tebele says she is still traumatized by the assault ordeal.
It is not clear whether the man was already admitted to the hospital or not.
Efforts to get a comment from the Limpopo Department of Health drew blanks at the time of publishing.
