SEKGAKGAPENG VILLAGE – Mahwelereng police in the Waterberg District have arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 39-year-old man at a tavern in Sekgakgapeng village.
The incident occurred at a tavern in the Khalanyoni Section of Sekgakgapeng village in the early hours of Saturday, 20 December 2025, at approximately 02h00.
Police were alerted to a murder complaint at a local clinic. Upon arrival, officers found the lifeless body of a 39-year-old man who had been brought in for medical attention.
He was certified dead on arrival by healthcare personnel.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was allegedly stabbed with a sharp object by a known suspect while at the tavern. After sustaining injuries, the man was rushed to the clinic, but succumbed to his wounds.
The deceased is a resident of Khalanyoni, Sekgakgapeng village. Police launched an investigation, which led to the tracing and arrest of the 28-year-old suspect.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Mokerong Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 22 December 2025, facing a charge of murder. Police investigations are continuing.
