POLOKWANE – The suspect who was wanted in connection with the brutal attack of one woman and the murder of another has been found dead.
The suspect, identified as Dennis Hlako-Mabetwa, had been on the run after allegedly attacking a woman with a sharp object in Mookgophong and later murdering his partner in Seshego on Monday, 26 January 2026.
He was discovered deceased at his residence in Mookgophong on Friday afternoon, 30 January 2026. Emergency Medical Services were called to the scene, where he was certified dead.
The cases of attempted murder and murder, which had been transferred to the Provincial Tracking Team for further investigation and a manhunt, will now be handled in accordance with standard SAPS procedures. An inquest docket has been opened to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
Police investigations into the incidents remain ongoing.
