DAN VILLAGE – A family from Lusaka section in Dan Village is facing a bleak festive season after their two-room zozo shack burnt to ashes on Saturday, 06 December, near Forward Church in Greater Tzaneen.
The homeowner, Newerani Shirindzi, says she suspects an electrical fault may have caused the devastating fire that destroyed all their belongings.
“We lost everything, including the Christmas clothes we had just collected from lay-bye. This will be a dark Christmas for my kids,” she said.
Shirindzi’s three children and her siblings are appealing to anyone willing to assist with donations of any kind, as the family has been left without shelter, clothing, or essentials.
Local councillors and other community stakeholders have been informed about the incident.
Efforts are currently underway to help the family secure temporary accommodation and begin the process of applying for new identity documents.
