POLOKWANE-A driver of a hearse from an unnamed funeral parlour reportedly dropped a coffin carrying a deceased person onto the road while transporting the body home on Saturday, 18 January.

The incident occurred along the R37 road in Ga-Mathipa village, within the Fetakgomo Tubatse Municipality in Limpopo Province.

According to reports, the driver only realised later that the coffin was no longer inside the hearse trailer.

He then turned back and discovered the coffin lying in the middle of the road.

A witness who was nearby at the time said they attempted to alert and stop the hearse after noticing the coffin fall from the vehicle, but the driver allegedly did not stop and continued driving.

However, he later returned to collect it.

According to a video making rounds on social media, a passerby can be heard saying they attempted to stop the driver, without success.
