NAMAKGALE – The man whose tragic death is believed to be linked to the recent flooding in Namakgale has been identified as Mohale Titus Moeng (48).

While the exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed, it is suspected that Moeng may have been swept away amid persistent heavy rainfall that has affected several areas in Limpopo in recent days.

The family is currently awaiting the outcome of a post-mortem examination, which is scheduled to be conducted on Monday.

In a show of support, Mopani District Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr Pule Shayi, together with Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality Mayor, Cllr Merriam Malatji, paid a courtesy visit this morning to the Moeng/Mhlongo family at Namakgale Zone A.

The Executive Mayor was accompanied by the MMC for Governance, Cllr Lucky Mohlala, as well as several leaders from local structures. During the visit, Cllr Shayi conveyed heartfelt condolences to the family and expressed solidarity during their time of grief.

Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality Mayor, Cllr Merriam Malatji, also extended her sincere condolences to the bereaved family during a separate visit in Namakgale, Ward 19. She assured the family that the municipality would continue to work closely with them and provide support during this difficult period.

The incident adds to growing concerns over the impact of recent floods in the region, as authorities continue to urge residents to remain vigilant and avoid flood-prone areas.
