Ga-Sekororo newlywed couple laid to rest after tragic car crash, leaving behind a three-year-old boy

GA-SEKORORO – Grief and heartbreak engulfed the Metz community following the tragic death of a newlywed couple who lost their lives in a fatal car crash last week.

The passing of Modidima Magoro and Virginia Moeng has left family, friends and the broader community shattered, struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss of two young lives filled with promise.

The couple perished in a car accident on 7 December 2025, just months after celebrating their union on 19 April 2025.

Tributes have continued to pour in on social media, with many expressing disbelief and deep sorrow over the tragedy. Friends and acquaintances described the couple as loving, caring and full of life.

One emotional tribute shared on Facebook read:
“After hearing what happened, I can’t believe you guys are no longer here. You showed passion, love and care. Your absence will make your child cry. You are not only leaving pain in our hearts but also leaving behind a young three-year-old boy who does not understand where his parents went. Rest well Modidima Magoro and Virginia Moeng, rest well batho baka.”

The community gathered in solidarity during a memorial service held at Makgaung Village on 11 December 2025, where speakers shared memories, tears and words of comfort, reflecting the deep love and respect the couple commanded.

Their funeral service took place at Metz Village on Saturday, 13 December 2025, where they were laid to rest amid scenes of profound grief.

The couple leaves behind a three-year-old son, whose future now rests in the care of grieving relatives.

As the community mourns, many continue to call for strength and unity for the family as they navigate life after an unimaginable loss.
