NAMAKGALE – The ANC Women’s League Young Women’s Desk (ANCWL–YWD) in the Norman Mashabane Region is mourning the death of one of its young and promising leaders, Karabo Malatji, whose passion for activism and community upliftment touched many lives.

Malatji was an active and respected member of both the ANC Youth League and the Young Women’s Desk in the region. She pursued her studies at Mopani TVET College, Sir Val Duncan Campus, where she distinguished herself as a dynamic and influential leader within the Student Representative Council (SRC).

Throughout her activism, Malatji championed the rights of marginalized groups, often described as a fearless voice for the voiceless. Colleagues remember her as an articulate communicator and a beacon of hope whose leadership inspired many young people.

In its statement, the ANCWL–YWD hailed her as a “young revolutionary” whose dedication to women’s emancipation and youth struggles embodied the true spirit of the movement.

The organisation urged members to honour her memory with dignity and refrain from using her passing for political or factional disputes.

“Let us honour her legacy by giving the family, comrades, and the community the respect and emotional space to mourn,” the statement read.

Mopani District Municipality also paid tribute to Malatji, describing her as a committed employee whose unwavering passion for activism and community empowerment left a lasting impact.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on 27 November at Namakgale in Mandela Section E. She will be laid to rest on 30 November 2025.
