THABAZIMBI – Concern is growing in the community after a tipper truck was discovered submerged in the Crocodile River early on Wednesday morning.

The circumstances leading to the incident remain unclear, and the condition of the driver is still unknown.

According to preliminary information, a passerby alerted authorities after noticing parts of the vehicle visible in the water. Police, emergency services, and rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Efforts to determine whether the driver is trapped inside the truck or managed to escape are ongoing. Authorities say visibility in the river is poor, making the recovery operation difficult and slow.

Police have since opened an investigation to establish what may have led to the truck ending up in the river. At this stage, it is not yet known whether the incident was accidental, linked to mechanical failure, or resulted from any criminal activity.

Community members have expressed worry as they await official updates from authorities, hoping the driver will be found safe.

More details will be released once rescue and investigation teams conclude their assessments.
