Three Wits students died in a vehicle crash in Johannesburg laid to rest

POLOKWANE: University of Witwatersrand ( Wits ) students who were killed in a freak accident on Sunday have been laid to rest.

In accordance to Muslim customs, the students were laid to rest in Polokwane on Monday night, just over 24 hours after they died.

Taahir Mohammed, Mateen Ghood and Fardeen Rhemtula were killed when a BMW 2 Series that they were travelling in flew and crashed into a Toyota dealership on Empire Road in Johannesburg.

Three from Polokwane died alongside Zayyaan Chayya who is from Potties in Mokopane.

Wits University has sent messages of condolences to the families.

“Wits University extends it’s heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the young students who tragically lost their lives in the recent car accident. Our thoughts are with their families and friends during this difficult time, and we hope for comfort and ease for all affected by this loss,” the statement read.
