KGAPANE-Road D3180 between Kgapane and Tzaneen remains a potential death trap. This is due to sinkholes and potholes that have developed on the road making it almost impossible for motorists to navigate around them.

The road connects Kgapane township with Tzaneen town.

Mention must be made that it is an integral part of the economy as it plays a pivotal role in the municipalities that surround it and the entire Mopani District in its entirety.

A motorist who spoke to Tzaneen Voice anonymously said that commuting has become nightmarish because you might end up colliding with another vehicle while attempting to dodge the sinkholes.

“The condition of this road is worrisome and frustrating at the same. While trying to navigate the sinkholes, you must change lanes and you end up facing oncoming traffic which is a huge death trap. It requires urgent attention”, he said.

A bus driver who also frequents the road reiterated the concern of other motorists and averred that the problem has now escalated and must be given priority.

The road is being patched here and there, however, this action seemingly has not allayed the fears of both motorists and pedestrians alike.

The publication contacted the Department of Public Works Roads and Infrastructure media liaison Witness Tiva but no comment was received during the publishing of this article.
