GIYANI — Police have confirmed the tragic discovery of a missing father and his teenage daughter at Rotterdam Village.
The 45-year-old man, identified by his family as Peter Themba Baloyi, was found dead on Friday, 26 December 2025. This follows the discovery of the body of his 15-year-old daughter, Xilaveko Suke, on Thursday, 25 December 2025, inside a one-room house in the village.
The teenager had been reported missing on Monday, 22 December 2025, after allegedly leaving home with her father. A public appeal was issued to assist in locating them.
Police opened a murder case following the discovery of the girl’s body. Later on Thursday, officers also attended a separate incident where the father’s house was found burned, with investigations into the suspected arson underway.
An inquest docket has been opened to determine the circumstances surrounding the father’s death. Police investigations into both matters are ongoing.
