PRAKTISEER – A 36-year-old man is expected to appear before the Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 29 January 2026, facing a charge of murder following the fatal stabbing of his 62-year-old elder brother.
The gruesome incident was discovered on Tuesday night, 27 January 2026, at around 20:00, at the brothers’ residence in Praktiseer, under the Tubatse policing area in the Sekhukhune District.
Police were responding to a complaint of a male found dead in a bedroom. Upon arrival, officers found the deceased lying on his back with multiple stab wounds and visible injuries across his body. He was certified dead at the scene.
Following a thorough examination of the crime scene and further investigations, police linked the deceased’s younger brother to the murder. He was subsequently arrested, and the weapon believed to have been used in the attack was confiscated.
The motive for the killing remains unknown at this stage, although domestic-related violence cannot be ruled out.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, condemned the incident and appealed for calm within the community.
