Another Man Electrocuted to Death While Attempting to Steal Cables in Bendzulani, Nkowankowa

NKOWANKOWA – Another man has died after allegedly attempting to steal electrical cables from a power substation near Bendzulani in Nkowankowa.

The body was discovered by a passer-by on Friday morning, 16 January. Police in Ritavi have arrived to the scene following the discovery of the lifeless man, believed to be from Mokgoloboto.

Upon arrival, they found the body of an African male, believed to be middle-aged, lying beneath two adjacent substations.

Preliminary observations indicated that electrical cables had been cut underneath one of the substations. A bolt cutter and a pair of gloves were also found near the body, suggesting the man may have been attempting to steal cables when he was electrocuted.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed. Emergency personnel and other relevant stakeholders were called to the scene to assist with further investigation and processing.

Police investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

Authorities have again warned members of the public about the dangers and severe consequences of tampering with electrical infrastructure.
