MPHAGANI –A centenarian from Mphagani Village has sadly passed away at the age of 100.
The family of Modjadji Mmamaropeng Monareng fondly known as Kokwani Mphabani, has this afternoon confirmed that she has sadly passed away at home surrounded by loved ones.
Her death comes after she celebrated 100 years birthday on the 25 November 2025, the village of Mphagani outside Giyani came alive as residents gathered in numbers to honour Kokwani Mphabani, who officially turned 100 years old.
She was Born on 25.11.1925
The celebration drew family, friends, neighbours, and well-wishers who filled the homestead with music, laughter, and heartfelt tributes.
The atmosphere was festive as community members expressed their admiration for the beloved granny, whose life has spanned generations.
When asked about the secret to her long life, Kokwani Mphabani offered simple but profound advice:
“Eat healthy and listen to the advice of the elders.”
Family members revealed that her diet played a major role in her longevity. She prefers home-made mealie meal, not store-bought brands.
She also maintains a diet rich in vegetables, avoiding oily or fatty foods. Despite her age, she remains physically active and walks almost a kilometre a day.
Messages of love and admiration poured in on social media.
Fumani Novela wrote:“Only by the grace of God in Jesus’ name. If it is His plan, you will live more years, because some people God gave them more years to hear His voice and repent.”
