University of Limpopo student robbed at gunpoint while walking to campus

POLOKWANE: The South African Police Service in Mankweng is investigating a case of robbery with a firearm after a victim (student at the University of Limpopo) was robbed of her belongings along Houtbosdorp road on Sunday, 21 April 2024 at about 10:00.

According to the report, a victim was walking alone along the Houtbosdorp road from her room to the campus when a white Renault motor vehicle with two occupants stopped next to her. The occupant on the passenger side pointed her with a firearm, demanded a school bag, and fled the scene. 

The school bag contained a Lenovo laptop and a Samsung cellphone A14 worth R8700-00. 

Police opened a case of robbery with a firearm.

The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has urged the members of the public to be vigilant and not carry valuable items, as this could expose them to risk.
