Zimbabwean national arrested, two flee after alleged Eskom conductor theft on R36

TZANEEN-Police have arrested a Zimbabwean national while two other suspects fled the scene following an alleged theft of Eskom conductors on the R36 in the Letsitele policing forum.

According to information received, suspects were busy stealing conductors when multiple teams were activated, including E2 Cross Border, K9 Anti-Hijacking Unit, Swangis Security, and Hoshani Security in the early hours of Wednesday, 21 April, shortly after midnight.

While on patrol along the R529, officers spotted a white Isuzu that appeared suspicious. The vehicle was intercepted, and the driver consented to a search.

During the operation, two suspects managed to flee, while one suspect, believed to be a Zimbabwean national, was apprehended.

Police discovered essential infrastructure believed to be Eskom conductors, including 10 rolls, in the vehicle.

The arrested suspect is expected to appear in court soon, while the search for the remaining suspects is still underway.

Investigations are ongoing.
