Woman (55) allegedly robbed of stokvel money by two armed suspects in Nkowankowa

NKOWANKOWA – A 55-year-old woman was robbed of her stokvel savings by two armed suspects during a house robbery in Nkowankowa Location on Saturday, 06 December 2025.

The incident occurred at around 04:43 when the victim returned to her house after fetching water. She was confronted by two unknown men, one of whom pointed a firearm at her while demanding money.

The suspects allegedly forced the woman into her bedroom, where they took a plastic bag containing her stokvel savings as well as her cellphone. During the ordeal, the victim was pushed to the floor and sustained minor injuries. The suspects fled the scene on foot. No shots were fired.

Limpopo Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, strongly condemned the incident and urged community members to avoid keeping large amounts of cash at home, particularly during the festive season when stokvel-related robberies tend to increase.

All relevant stakeholders attended the scene, and police investigations are underway.
