PHALABORWA – Limpopo police have made a major breakthrough in the case of a 54-year-old soldier who was shot and killed earlier this year, leading to the arrest of three suspects — his wife, her alleged boyfriend, and a hired hitman.
The soldier was gunned down on 29 May 2025 at Kurhula Village in Lulekani while on his way to work. His death initially left the community shocked and demanding answers.
Following extensive investigations, detectives uncovered that the victim and his wife (41) had been experiencing ongoing domestic issues. Police allege that these tensions led the wife and her alleged lover (45) to plot the soldier’s murder.
The pair then allegedly recruited a 52-year-old hitman to carry out the attack.
The breakthrough came on Sunday, 16 November, when the alleged hitman was arrested in Mandela Village, Namakgale. Two days later, on Tuesday, 18 November, police tracked down and arrested the wife and her boyfriend in Matikoxikaya, Lulekani.
All three suspects appeared in the Lulekani Magistrate’s Court today, Friday, 21 November, facing charges of murder.
Police investigations continue as the community awaits further developments in this shocking case.
