THOHOYANDOU – Police in Thohoyandou, under the Vhembe District, have launched an urgent search for 34-year-old Tondani Lithole from Ngovhela (Maembeni) Village, who mysteriously disappeared on Monday, 24 November 2025.
According to police, Lithole left home at around 14:00, telling his mother he would return shortly. At around 15:00, he sent a voice message to his family explaining where they could find him.
Later, at approximately 17:00, he posted another message in the family WhatsApp group, which included a video clip and a location pin showing the Nandoni Dam area.
This was the last contact his family received from him before his phone went off.
Following the missing person report, the SAPS K9 Search and Rescue Unit and other relevant emergency teams were activated. Search operations around Nandoni Dam are ongoing as authorities work to determine what may have happened.
Police are appealing to the public for assistance.
