POLOKWANE — The search for missing diesel mechanic Reuben Marsberg (22) has intensified after his 1976 Toyota Land Cruiser was found abandoned, stripped, and with traces of blood inside in Polokwane.
Marsberg, originally from Howick in KwaZulu-Natal and recently relocated to Louis Trichardt for work, has been missing since Wednesday, 26 November 2025.
Police confirmed that Marsberg’s disappearance was discovered after several valuables including a TV, PlayStation, router, mattress and blankets were reported missing from his home in Levubu. There were no signs of forced entry when his brother arrived the following day to check on him.
The cream Toyota Land Cruiser he was last seen driving was later found in Polokwane with parts removed. Specialist police K9 units searched the surrounding area, but no trace of Marsberg has been found.
Adding to the concern, Marsberg’s boat and trailer were also stolen. The trailer is identifiable by its blue tyre rims, while the boat’s propeller is marked with red paint and fitted with a Yamaha outboard motor.
According to investigators, Marsberg had dropped his brother off at his girlfriend’s home on the night of 26 November and planned to pick him up the next morning but never arrived. When calls and messages went unanswered, his brother went to the house, where he found it unlocked and Marsberg missing.
Police have since opened a missing person case and are urgently appealing to the public for information that could assist in locating him.
