TZANEEN – The boyfriend of slain Letaba TVET College student, Mosibudi Valencia Mashumu, has finally been arrested — eight months after her brutal murder shocked the Ga-Sekororo community.
The suspect, 36-year-old Humphrey Makgoba Malale, was arrested in connection with the murder of his girlfriend, 26-year-old Mashumu, who was a second-year Civil Engineering student at Letaba TVET College.
Malale had been on the run since February, after Mashumu’s decomposed body was discovered inside his bedroom in Kanana Village.
According to Limpopo police, the breakthrough came when the Provincial Investigation Unit, working alongside the Provincial Tracking Team, executed a warrant of arrest on Thursday, 30 October 2025, at Percy Five, outside Polokwane.
The victim was last seen alive on Friday, 14 February 2025, in the company of the accused at his home. Three days later, on 17 February 2025, at around 19:30, her lifeless and decomposed body was found hidden inside his bedroom.
The accused made his first court appearance before the Lenyenye Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 31 October, where he faced a charge of murder. The matter was postponed to Thursday, 06 November 2025, for the accused to appoint his own legal representative.
Malale remains in custody pending his next court appearance.
