Six foreign nationals in court for possession of stolen goods worth thousands in Modjadjiskloof

POLOKWANE: Six foreign Nationals aged between 25 and 39 were nabbed in Mopani District for possession of stolen property worth thousands of rands on Wednesday, 24 April 2024.

The suspects were apprehended during an intelligence-driven operation that was conducted in the Modjadjiskloof policing area following a spate of burglaries committed from last week on Tuesday, 16 until this week on Tuesday 23 April 2024.

Police received information about a group of foreign male Nationals who were in possession of suspected stolen property that were stored at four different places in Modjadjiskloof area.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were allegedly planning to depart to Giyani policing area with the objective to sell the property because they have found a buyer.

Mopani District Task Team together with members of the Modjadjiskloof Crime Prevention operationalised on the information and commenced with location of the suspects.

The suspects were subsequently found standing on the side of the public road with the stolen properties at Modjadjiskloof while waiting for transport to deliver them to Giyani precinct. They were asked about the origin of the properties but failed to provide satisfactory response and were immediately nabbed for possession of stolen property.

Police seized the following stolen property worth more than R60,000.00 that were found in possession of the suspects during the arrest as follows:

1. 3 Bush cutters.

2. One black solar battery with one small black inventor.

3. Two black Plasma TV’s and one black computer screen.

4. Two Hascavana chain sawers.

5. One Ryobi generator.

6. One HP laptop.

7. One welding machine with a yellow Thermamax Inventor.

8. One green compressor.

The suspects comprise of one (01) Mozambican and five (05) Zimbabwean Nationals who are expected to appear before the Modjadjiskloof Regional court tomorrow on Friday, 26 April 2024 facing a charge of possession of stolen property.
