TZANEEN – Just six months after rejoining the ANC from Jacob Zuma’s MK Party, Ponani Makhubele has once again shifted her political allegiance—this time to ActionSA.

The former ANC MP was officially welcomed as a new member of ActionSA on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, in Polokwane, alongside several others who left the EFF and MK Party.

During the welcoming ceremony, led by ActionSA deputy president Dr. Mbahare Kekana, Makhubele accused the ANC of being unforgiving toward members who return after leaving.

“The ANC doesn’t forgive. They will oppress you more than opposition parties,” she claimed.

Makhubele suggested that the ANC never accepted her back after she briefly joined the MK Party in 2024, despite her having been a member of the ANC for 23 years.

She resigned from Jacob Zuma’s MK Party on 18 May this year, citing factional tensions and isolation, just a few months after being appointed as the party’s provincial deputy organiser.

Explaining what drew her to ActionSA, Makhubele said the party’s Border Management Policy appealed to her, claiming it “strikes a balance between humanity and the law.”
