NWAMITWA – Efforts to restore electricity in parts of Nwamitwa have suffered a major setback after yet another incident of vandalism was reported on Friday, 05 December 2025, while Eskom technicians were already working to repair previously damaged infrastructure.

In a statement released on Saturday, 06 December 2025, Eskom in Limpopo confirmed that the prolonged outage on the Nwamitwa–Xihoko 22kV Feeder, initially caused by conductor theft, has now been further compromised by additional vandalism that occurred on Friday night.

Technicians who were on-site conducting repairs discovered the new damage, forcing the restoration process to be halted.

Eskom said teams are currently assessing the full extent of the latest destruction affecting Xihoko, Mispana, Kambako, Mugwazeni, Joppi and some parts of Mawa Block 7.

“These repeated acts of vandalism are causing substantial delays in restoring electricity supply to the affected communities,” the utility stated.

At this stage, the outage remains unresolved, and an estimated time of restoration (ETR) is still unavailable.

The power utility has urged communities to help protect critical infrastructure.

“Electricity infrastructure is a shared resource that supports households, businesses, and essential services. Ongoing vandalism not only disrupts supply but also increases costs and prolongs outages, affecting everyone.”

Eskom further advised customers in the affected areas not to log new faults during this period, but instead to report any suspicious or illegal activities to law enforcement or the Eskom Crime Line: 0800 11 27 22.
