THOHOYANDOU-Limpopo Saps at Makuya have opened an investigation into an alleged rape that reportedly occurred in the village of Mavunde between 26 June 2025 and 15 September 2025.
According to the report seen by Tzaneen voice, on the morning of 22 November 2025 at approximately 08:30, the victim’s mother was at home with her 14‑year‑old daughter, who has a disability. While the mother was present, she noticed that her daughter’s abdomen appeared swollen and, concerned, asked the girl whether she might be pr€gnant.
The daughter initially denied any possibility of pr€gnancy.
The following day, 23 November 2025, at around 06:00, the mother again entered the daughter’s room and repeated the question. This time the girl disclosed that her cousin had entered her room on multiple occasions between June and September 2025 and had forced sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
The mother promptly took the victim to the nearest clinic for a medical examination. Healthcare professionals who examined the girl confirmed that she was indeed pregnant , which corroborated the allegation of s€xual assault.
Upon receiving this information, law enforcement officials were notified and a formal rape case was opened. As of the latest report, no arrests have been made because both the alleged perpetrator and the victim are minors, the matter is being referred to a probation officer for further guidance and possible intervention.
The police have indicated that their investigation is ongoing and that they will continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses as the case proceeds.
