Mother Returns From Sleepover to Find 11-Year-Old Son Murdered and wrapped in blankets in Giyani

GIYANI – A Mapuve Village mother has been left distraught after returning home to find her 11-year-old son brutally murdered and wrapped in a blanket in the early hours of Sunday, 16 November 2025.

Police were alerted to the scene and arrived shortly after the discovery.

According to authorities, the mother led officers to the room where the lifeless body of her eldest son, identified as Success Ngobeni (11), lay in a pool of blood. He had sustained a severe open wound to the neck.

Emergency medical services were immediately called, but the young boy was sadly declared dead on the scene.

Preliminary reports indicate that the mother, who lives with her three children aged 2, 5, and 11, had allegedly left them alone overnight while she spent the night elsewhere. When she returned the following morning, she was confronted with the horrifying sight of her son’s body wrapped in a blanket.

Police have since opened a murder case, and investigations are underway to determine what transpired during the night. No arrests have been made at this stage.
