Heartbreak as Missing Fisherman Found Dead, Body Discovered Floating in Ritavi River

NKAMBAKO – A cloud of grief has fallen over Malubane Village after the lifeless body of a missing fisherman, Dzunisani Mukhari, was discovered floating in the Ritavi River on Monday , November 17.

The 40-year-old, well-known in his village for his regular fishing trips, had been missing since Thursday, November 13. According to his relatives, Mukhari frequently fished at the Ritavi River, but when he failed to return home and was not seen at any of his usual fishing spots, concern quickly grew.

A missing person case was opened at Tzaneen SAPS, prompting a community-led search effort along the riverbanks and surrounding areas.

Villagers, relatives, and volunteers tirelessly combed the region in hopes of finding him safe.

Tragically, their worst fears were confirmed when Mukhari’s body was found floating in the river at Barinati Farm, next to King. Emergency services were notified, and the body was retrieved for further investigation.

The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, and police are expected to conduct a post-mortem to determine the cause.

The grieving Mukhari family has expressed heartfelt gratitude to community members who assisted in the search and offered support during the difficult period.

The discovery has left the village shaken, as residents mourn the loss of a humble fisherman whose daily routine and quiet presence were familiar to many.
