LENYENYE-The inaugural Miss South African Police Service in Mopani District that was hosted at Shidila Lodge on Thursday, December 15, was described as a success.

Glitz and glamour were the order of the day as the contestants paraded in miniature ballgowns and strutted their stuff on the runway.

Mathata Talvia Modiba, a constable stationed at Maake police station, was crowned the first-ever Miss SAPS Mopani 2022 /23 at the event.

In conversation with Tzaneen Voice, the Moime village beauty queen said that the pageant bolstered her self-confidence a great deal.

“My colleagues encouraged me to enter the competition. Growing up I had low self-esteem and this competition boosted my self-confidence. This has also proved to me that anything is possible when you have a positive mindset”, Modiba boasted.

The pageantry is aimed at creating awareness campaigns in villages across the District and grooming girl children. Modiba elaborated that during her reign she will be visiting the villages and giving motivational talks.

SAPS envisages and plans to ensure that the pageant becomes an annual event.

“I look forward to participating at a provincial level in January of the coming year. I am excited and dream about being on the world stage one day”, Modiba said.
