NKOWANKOWA– A family in Nkowankowa Section C is living in fear after a transformer fell onto the roof of their house during a severe storm four days ago, leaving them exposed to danger and uncertainty.

The incident occurred at House No. 167 during heavy storms that damaged several infrastructure structures in the area. Since then, the transformer has remained on top of the house, posing a serious safety risk to the occupants.

According to the family, repeated attempts to contact Eskom for assistance have yielded no response. The situation has since worsened, with the fallen transformer allegedly attracting criminal activity.

On Sunday night, unknown individuals were reportedly seen attempting to steal cables from the transformer.

Adding to the danger, oil leaking from the transformer has spread across the yard, creating a hazardous environment.

The homeowner said she was forced to send her grandchildren away out of fear that they might come into contact with the dangerous oil while playing.

The family is appealing for urgent intervention, warning that the situation not only threatens their safety but also puts the wider community at risk if not addressed immediately.
