TOPANAMA – One person lost their life while several others were injured in a serious motor vehicle accident that occurred on Saturday, 13 December 2025,
The incident happened at around 18:45 on Road D3870 between Khujwana and Lephepane, near Thabeng Primary School, also known as the old Mash Car Wash.
The collision involved a blue Nissan Hardbody bakkie and a silver Volkswagen Golf. According to a source close to the scene, the Golf was allegedly travelling at high speed from Khopho towards Khujwana when it collided with the bakkie, which was travelling in the opposite direction transporting passengers from Khopho and Lephepane.
The passengers were reportedly returning from a party in Khujwana.
Preliminary reports indicate that the Golf struck the bakkie on the rear wheel, causing the vehicle to lose control and resulting in passengers being thrown from the bakkie.
The driver of the bakkie escaped unharmed, while all passengers in the bakkie, as well as occupants of the Golf, were transported to hospital for further medical treatment.
The driver of the Volkswagen Golf was declared deceased at the scene by paramedics after becoming trapped inside the vehicle.
The identity of the deceased has been withheld to allow the family time to be informed. The deceased is believed to be from Khopho–Longvalley.
Police, emergency medical services, and firefighters responded swiftly and attended to the scene. Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
