POLOKWANE – An eyewitness has exclusively spoken to Tzaneen Voice, recounting the terrifying moments when award-winning artist Makhadzi was knocked down by a vehicle on the N1 earlier this week.

Makhadzi, whose real name is Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, was involved in a serious accident on New Year’s Eve and is currently hospitalised, according to her company, Makhadzi Entertainment.

Speaking on Wednesday morning, the eyewitness said he initially did not realise that the woman who had been struck by a car was the popular Phikoko hitmaker. He described witnessing a woman being knocked down by a passing vehicle on the busy N1.

According to the eyewitness, Makhadzi was hit by a speeding black Omoda, describing the scene as both horrific and frightening.

“At first glance, I really thought that the person who was knocked down had passed away, judging from how horrific the accident was,” he said.
“To hear that she is in hospital and recovering is such a relief because it was truly scary.”

He further explained that a stationary truck in the middle of the road may have obstructed Makhadzi’s view of oncoming traffic from the Gauteng direction. As she attempted to cross the road towards her Mercedes-Benz V-Class, she was struck and thrown at least a metre away.

“I don’t know what they were doing on the other side of the road, but they looked very happy. As they crossed back towards the Mercedes-Benz V-Class, the woman was knocked down. Luckily, the Omoda did not run over her,” he added.

The 29-year-old musician is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Polokwane.

Tzaneen Voice reached out to Makhadzi Entertainment for comment; however, there was no response at the time of publishing.
