Community Search for Missing Pensioner Ends in Tragedy

GA-SEKGOPO – The community of Ga-Sekgopo is mourning after the search for missing pensioner Koko Matsatsi Mamohlao Shai ended in tragedy on Wednesday midday.

The body of the 86-year-old, who disappeared from her home in Lebjelola village, was found in a nearby bush. Koko Shai had been missing since the morning of Thursday, November 7, 2024, when she was last seen wearing a dark brown traditional dress (khiba) with white floral patterns and an orange towel. Her disappearance led to an extensive community-led search effort over the past week, drawing support from family, neighbors, and local volunteers.

The search continues for another missing pensioner, 73-year-old Lerupu Piet Mokwalakwala, who was last seen on the morning of Wednesday, November 6, 2024, around 5:00 a.m. Authorities are calling for assistance from the public in locating Mokwalakwala, whose family is anxious for his safe return.
