MOKGOLOBOTO VILLAGE- A man has allegedly set alight his girlfriend’s house following a disagreement in Mokgoloboto village, Greater Tzaneen. The couple that cannot be named at this stage are both employed at a local farm and usually come home together during weekends.
A concerned community member avvered that on the day the house was torched, the couple had a heated argument. They reportedly parted ways after the argument and went to different taverns, seemingly to blow off steam.
“The boyfriend came back first and got angry because the girlfriend was not back. He was heard making noise in the house. He left again, presumably to go and find the girlfriend. He returned around 10pm, but, the girlfriend was still not back. He then started burning the house down. Some neighbours witnessed the incident but were too terrified to get involved”, he said.
Unfortunately, the big room that could be divided into three bedrooms, burned down to ashes leaving the family with nothing.
Ward 17 Councillor Masinge Ngungunyana could not be reached for comment. A case has been opened at Ritavi police station .
