LEFARA VILLAGE – The community of Lefara village in Greater Tzaneen has been hit by yet another case of Eskom infrastructure vandalism. On Saturday, December 20, 12 electric poles were stolen, leaving residents without power.

This latest incident follows recent vandalism in Nwamitwa and Bolobedu, which took Eskom several days to repair due to repeated attacks on infrastructure.

In a statement, Eskom Limpopo confirmed the power supply disruption:

“Eskom Limpopo regrets to inform customers of an unplanned power outage due to vandalism affecting the following villages around Tzaneen: Lefara, Mhangweni, Portions of Rita, Burgersdrop, Gavaza, Mulati, Mafarana, Nsolani, and Nyanyukani.”

Eskom technicians are on-site assessing the damage and working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. At this stage, the estimated time of restoration (ETR) is not yet available.

The utility has reiterated its call for communities to protect infrastructure, warning that continued vandalism not only disrupts power supply but also poses serious safety risks.

Residents are urged to treat all electrical connections as live during this period and report any illegal activity to the Eskom Crime Line at 0800 11 27 22.
