GIYANI– Police in Giyani are appealing for public assistance following the fatal shooting of an 80-year-old traditional healer at N’wa-Khuwana village on Saturday, 13 December 2025.
According to reports, police were alerted to a murder complaint and immediately responded to the scene. Upon arrival, officers found the elderly man lying on his back near the gate of his residence.
Preliminary information indicates that the victim and his son were asleep when they heard a motor vehicle hooting outside their home. The son went outside and encountered an unknown male suspect standing next to a vehicle parked at the gate. The suspect allegedly requested to see the elderly man.
The victim then came outside accompanied by his son. The suspect reportedly introduced himself as a police detective and claimed there was an outstanding case against the elderly man. Moments later, the suspect allegedly opened fire on the victim before fleeing the scene in an unknown vehicle.
Emergency Medical Services were called to the scene, where the victim was declared dead.
The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage. A case of murder has been opened, and police investigations are ongoing.
