KAMEELRIVIER B—A sombre atmosphere filled Kameelrivier B under the Dr J.S. Moroka Local Municipality as the community gathered for the mass funeral of four family members who tragically lost their lives in a car accident on the N11.

The deceased, Nonhlanhla Mtsweni (59), Nompumelelo Mtsweni (57), Samuku Gaelejwe (27), and Lindokuhle Masombuka (9), were all members of the Mtsweni family from KwaMhlanga. They were travelling to a housewarming party in Doornkop when tragedy struck.

According to reports, the family was travelling in a white Avanza that allegedly experienced a mechanical failure, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle between Doornkop and the De Voetpadkloof turn-off.

The devastating accident has left the Mtsweni family and the entire community heartbroken. Bonginkosi Mtsweni, brother to Nonhlanhla and Nompumelelo, expressed his deep pain upon learning of the crash. He revealed that he had been driving not far behind them when the accident occurred.

Bonginkosi described his sisters as loving, hardworking, and selfless individuals who were the pillars of the family. He remembered Lindokuhle, the youngest victim, as a bright and energetic child who loved sports, while Samuku, Lindokuhle’s mother, was known for her quiet nature and dedication to her work and family.

“Now that all my sisters are gone, I feel completely alone,” Bonginkosi said tearfully, reflecting on the strong bond they shared.
