ZANGHOMA – The R67 million project to pave the Zanghoma to Mariveni road has been successfully completed in 2025, bringing a major infrastructure boost to communities within the Greater Tzaneen Municipality in the Mopani District, Limpopo province.

The road upgrade stretches across several villages, including Zanghoma, Shipungu, Uhuru and Mariveni, and is expected to significantly improve connectivity and mobility for residents. For years, communities relied on poor gravel roads that were difficult to navigate, especially during rainy seasons.

With the newly paved road now complete, residents and businesses are already experiencing smoother travel, reduced transport costs and improved access to essential services such as schools, clinics and markets.

The project is also expected to stimulate local economic activity by making it easier for goods and services to move in and out of the area.

Community members have welcomed the development, describing it as a long-awaited intervention that will improve safety, reduce vehicle damage and save travel time. Local businesses, in particular, are optimistic that better road infrastructure will attract more economic opportunities to the area.

The completion of the Zanghoma–Mariveni road forms part of broader government efforts to close infrastructure gaps in rural and previously underserved communities. It reflects a continued commitment to improving living standards, promoting economic growth and ensuring inclusive development across Limpopo.

As infrastructure investment continues across the province, projects such as this one are seen as key drivers in unlocking rural development and improving the quality of life for local communities.
