ATTRIDGEVILLE-Ugly scenes unfolded outside Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday evening after Mamelodi Sundowns fans blocked the team bus in frustration following their side’s elimination from the MTN8.

Sundowns were knocked out by Orlando Pirates, who advanced to the final after a dramatic penalty shootout.

The semi-final second leg ended 1-1, leaving the aggregate score at 2-2. Pirates went on to dominate the shootout, winning 4-1 and securing their place in the final.

The Brazilians had taken an early lead, but the Buccaneers fought back to equalise and carried the momentum into penalties.

Pirates’ composure from the spot sealed the result, extending their impressive record in the MTN8.

Following the final whistle, tensions boiled over as disgruntled Sundowns supporters gathered outside the stadium, blocking the team bus in protest.
