TZANEEN- Limpopo-born megastar Makhadzi is accused of stealing the verses of Bolobedu-born disco artist in her latest single ‘Rea lwa’.

Skiripoto Modzhiri, real name Lucky Machete, said that the multi-platinum selling artist stole the verses of his song ‘Zwephiri’, and used them in her latest song without authority.

The local muso said his single hit ‘Zwephiri’ was released in 2021, while Mkhadzi’s single was released last month.

Although the songs don’t share the same titles and are not sung in the same languages, Makhadzi’s verses in the ‘Rea lwa’ song have a similar translation to the ‘Zwephiri’ song.

‘Zwephiri’ song which was sung in Khelobedu and Tsonga, sings “Since our friendship and relatedness have ended, what should I do with your secrets”, while Makhadzi’s song which is composed in Tshivenda and Sepedi says “Since we have fought what should I do with your secrets and problems”.

The fuming skiripoto turned to social media and labelled Makhadzi a thief and further told this website news that it was not the first time she had stolen from him.

” In 2010 I released a single hit ‘skiripoto’ which was sung and composed in Khelobedu and Tsonga, and in 2020 she stole that song and sang it in her native language and named it Tshikiri photo, without even talking to me and I kept quiet because of she’s well known, but this time I will not allow her to enrich herself with my song ideas” he said.

When we reached out to Makhadzi for comments at the time of publication, she just ignored our communication attempts.
