WITBANK-The Janefurse, Middelburg, Witbank and Secunda Taxi Association has introduced a new luggage fee that will take effect from 1 December 2025.
In a notice circulated on 27 November, the association announced that all travelling bags and suitcases will now be charged R50 per item.
The circular, which included sample images of the types of luggage affected, was stamped and signed by the association’s leadership to confirm its authenticity.
According to the association, the new fee is intended to help manage limited luggage space and improve efficiency, particularly as the festive season travel period approaches and passenger volumes increase.
The association says the measure will also help ensure fair use of space and reduce overloading, which often contributes to delays and safety concerns.
More details are expected to be communicated to passengers through taxi ranks in the coming days.
