POLOKWANE– A shocking development in the investigation of the brutal rape of four TVET College girls in Bolobedu has emerged, with Limpopo police suggesting the suspect may have been killed by community members.

The revelation was made by Provincial Commissioner, Thembi Hadebe, during the release of crime statistics in Polokwane on Monday afternoon.

This comes after four female students were allegedly raped and robbed at the Tlharihani TVET College residence last month.

Commissioner Hadebe disclosed that a man, believed to be linked to the horrific crime, was shot dead near the scene of the rape incident.

According to police reports, the man was confronted by the community after he attempted to rob three women while fleeing.

“After being cornered by the community, he then tried to rob three African women and he was shot dead,” Hadebe explained.

The police are now investigating the possibility that this deceased individual is the perpetrator responsible for the rape of the TVET College students.

To confirm this, DNA samples will be taken and analyzed to determine if there is a conclusive link between the deceased and the crime scene.

“We will do DNA sampling to check if there is a link between the suspect and the rape incident,” Hadebe stated.
