Phalaborwa—A tragic end was met this morning as the search for Vincent Maenetja, a resident of Majeje, came to a sorrowful conclusion.

Maenetja, who had been missing since Friday, was found deceased in a water body near the bridge close to the Lulekani Cross on the R71.

Maenetja, employed at Foskor, was last seen on Friday evening. He had requested a taxi driver to stop near a white church just after the Lulekani Cross on the R71 so that he could relieve himself.

However, after exiting the vehicle, Maenetja never returned. Alarmed by his disappearance, the driver and other passengers conducted a brief search before reporting the incident to Maenetja’s family and the local police.

A community-led search was organized early this morning. Tragically, around 10:30 a.m., his lifeless body was discovered submerged in water near the area where he was last seen.

Phalaborwa police are currently on the scene, and the body will be transported by a pathology van to a government mortuary for further investigation.

The community of Phalaborwa is in mourning as they await the outcome of the investigation.
