Polokwane – Popular podcaster Rich Baloyi, affectionately known as “Richy B” of the Richy B & Lejoy Podcast, has strongly denied allegations that he offered drug-laced sweets to an influencer and her cousin during a recent trip.
The allegations surfaced after Limpopo-based influencer Fridah Mabetlela, popularly known as Limpopo Gal, and her cousin were reportedly booked for a podcast recording in Polokwane.
It is alleged that Baloyi offered to transport them to Lebowakgomo on Saturday following the recording session.
According to claims circulating on social media, the alleged incident occurred during the trip when the two were reportedly offered sweets, after which they began feeling dizzy and distressed. They were later hospitalised for observation.
In response to the accusations, Baloyi took to social media to distance himself from the claims, dismissing them as baseless and damaging to his reputation. He condemned the allegations in the strongest terms, stating that he would not allow his name and brand to be tarnished.
“I don’t know what people are trying to achieve with these accusations. I don’t know what people want from me. Why is the blame resting on my shoulders? I will not allow my reputation to be damaged,” Baloyi said.
He further explained that the sweets in question were shared among several people during the recording session, disputing claims that he specifically targeted anyone.
Reports indicate that Limpopo Gal and her cousin were later assisted by members of the public after they began feeling unwell and managed to return to Lebowakgomo, where they received medical attention. They have since been discharged from hospital and are said to be recuperating at home.
Meanwhile, the father of Limpopo Gal has reportedly voiced concern over the incident, calling for accountability from those involved. He has, however, opted not to publicly name or confront the podcaster, stating that he will allow the matter to be resolved through proper channels.
The matter has sparked widespread debate on social media, with calls for clarity and accountability as discussions around the incident continue.
