N’WAMITWA – The Royal Family of the Valoyi has announced the passing of Her Royal Highness Hosi Dr. Nwamitwa II, the Senior Traditional Leader (Hosi) of the Valoyi in N’wamitwa.

She passed away on Monday, 09 February 2026, at the age of 85.

In a statement released today, the Royal Family said it is with profound sorrow and immeasurable grief that they announce the passing of their heroine, describing her as one of the Lord’s chosen servants who has transitioned peacefully to be with Him.

Hosi Dr. Nwamitwa II made history when she ascended the throne on 29 August 2008, becoming a pioneer woman traditional leader among the Vatsonga people. Her reign was marked by dignity, resilience and a commitment to leadership and service to her community.

The Royal Family has indicated that details regarding the memorial service and funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.
