BOLOBEDU SOUTH- The Department of Education in Limpopo has suspended the 52-year-old teacher following his arrest in connection with the rape of a 13-year-old girl child in Bolobedu.

Limpopo education has confirmed that they are set to institute disciplinary actions against a 52-year-old teacher who was arrested in front of learners and colleagues at Morutji Primary School on Monday, 12 August, for allegedly raping a grade 7 learner of the same School inside his car in Mothomeng Village, outside school hours.

” We strongly condemn this outrageous behaviour with the contempt it deserves. The Department is intensively looking into the matter and will be taking disciplinary actions against the perpetrator” Limpopo Education Spokesperson Mosebjane Kgaffe said.

The Morutji Primary School teacher briefly appeared before the Bolobedu Magistrate’s court on Monday,19 August for bail application while pleading not guilty on allegations of sexually molesting the 13-year-old learner.

His matter was postponed to Thursday, 22 August for further bail application, while kept in Police custody.

The Department said that even if the educator gets out on bail, he will not be allowed to go back to school until it is finished with its internal investigations of the incident.

It has been revealed that this is not the first time the teacher has been accused of engaging in sexual activities with school learners and that part of the reason why he was transferred to Primary School from a local High School, was because of the same allegations of sexual molestation to under age learners.
