Legendary musician PJ Powers to grace the Ignyt Africa Festival stage in Phalaborwa

PHALABORWA – Iconic South African musician PJ Powers (65) is set to light up the stage at the Ignyt Africa Festival this Saturday, 06 December 2025, at Kapone Lifestyle in Mashishimale, located along the R71 road.

Affectionately known as Thandeka, PJ Powers remains one of South Africa’s most celebrated voices. Her musical journey began in the late 1970s, later rising to prominence in the 1980s as the lead singer of the rock band Hotline.

Her solo career soared through the 1990s and 2000s with timeless hits such as There Is an Answer, Feel So Strong, Jabulani, You’re So Good to Me and World in Union, which became an iconic anthem for major sporting events.

With a career spanning more than 40 years, PJ Powers has made a remarkable impact on both local and international music scenes.

Beyond her music, she is also an accomplished author, songwriter, speaker, and philanthropist, celebrated for her contribution to social unity and cultural expression.

Born in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, PJ started out as part of the girl group Pantha before joining Hotline, and later establishing herself as a powerhouse solo artist. Her music, personality, and humanitarian work have earned her admiration across generations.
