JOHANNESBURG – Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly parted ways with head coach Nasreddine Nabi under a mutual agreement, following a shocking revelation that he does not hold the required CAF equivalent coaching license.

According to reports, Nabi’s lack of valid documentation means he would not have been allowed to sit on the bench or coach the team during their upcoming CAF Confederation Cup campaign. Chiefs are set to kick off their continental journey this Saturday, and the issue became a stumbling block that led to his exit.

Nabi, who joined the Soweto giants earlier this season, is also said to be heading back to Tunisia, following personal circumstances that already caused him to miss the start of the campaign.

Chiefs are now expected to turn to Nabi’s assistants, Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, to take over the reins while the club seeks a long-term solution. The pair will likely guide Amakhosi through their Confederation Cup fixtures in the interim.

Local football journalists Mazola Molefe and Lorenzo have suggested that the parting of ways stems not only from the licensing issue but also from a breach of contract, as Nabi allegedly misrepresented his qualifications to secure the position.

The decision comes at a crucial time for Kaizer Chiefs, who have been under pressure to rebuild and return to their winning ways both domestically and on the continent. Losing Nabi so early into his tenure is a major blow, but management insists that the team’s continental campaign cannot be compromised by technicalities.

With Nabi gone, all eyes will be on his assistants to see if they can stabilize the team and deliver results in a challenging season ahead with reports have suggested that interim coaching arrangements are already in motion. Though specifics aren’t confirmed, names like Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef have been floated as possible replacements.
