THAPANE : The meteoric rise of the popular Amapiano track, ‘Ka Valungu’ has been brought down to earth.
This after the song was removed from music streaming platforms iTunes and Spotify on Tuesday following a copyright complaint.
The trendy Amapiano track was sampled from Peter Teanet’s African Vibe, without permission.
Now the man behind the remake, Tebza De DJ could face a R20 Million lawsuit from the Teanet family.
Tebza De DJ sampled a portion of the song from the famous Peter Tenant hit song ‘African Vibes Part2’ which was in his album, King of Shangaan Disco which was released a few days after he was shot dead in 1996.
Tebza De DJ’s sampling of the renowned Peter Tenant hit garnered significant attention and propelled the song to the top of the charts, surpassing Tyler ICU’s ‘Mnike,’ which had held the number-one spot for three consecutive weeks.
Taking to social media, Tebza confirmed that that song has been removed, however, he is working hard behind the scenes to have it back.
The song, which gathered momentum on Tik Tok, sparking dance challenges has been one of the most-played tracks in the country.
The family of iconic disco music singer, Peta Teanet, say they were not compensated nor consulted for the remake of the viral amapiano song, Ka Valungu by Tebza De Dj.
